Hey y’all.

So a while back I talked about this book I read, The Nerdist Way.  Before I read that book I was listening to Chris Hardwick’s podcast, The Nerdist.  It’s Chris, Matt Mira and Jonah Ray talking about “what it really means to be a nerd.”  I will go ahead and say that most of the time they are not talking about “what it really means to be a nerd.”  Sure, these guys happen to be nerdy and nerdy stuff DOES come up a lot but it’s mostly these guys interviewing awesome people in a usually hysterical way.

There is the occasional podcast that isn’t as hysterical as the others…but I typically attribute that to lack of chemistry with a guest who takes themselves too seriously.  Or it’s just me not knowing what they’re talking about.  (I’m finally starting to understand those Doctor Who references)!  But when the chemistry is there and I understand what’s going on it is literally laugh out loud funny.  (LLOL)! Ha.  That wasn’t funny.  Sorry.

Here are specific episodes that I would recommend (the numbers listed are their number on iTunes…not the number of the episode…I tried including the iTunes number AND the episode number and it just got confusing…):

Number 56- Connie Britton - Connie and Chris have been friends for a long time…so the chemistry is pretty outstanding.  Also, I loved Friday Night Lights and I sort of just love listening to Connie Britton talk.  CLEAR EYES FULL HEARTS.

Number 206- Joel McHale, Number 192- Alison Brie, Number 177-Donald Glover, Number 146 – Danny Pudi – All of these episodes were wonderful.  Sure, I’m probably biased because I’m a little obsessed with Community.  But all of these people are really, REALLY funny and give good interview. For realsies.  #sixseasonsandamovie #hashtagsinblogs

Number 16 – Jon Hamm #2 – Jon did a previous episode with them but this one was ridiculous.  It is a quick descent into nonsensical hilarity.  I probably wouldn’t recommend this as the FIRST Nerdist podcast you listen to…but it is one you should DEFINITELY listen to…at some point…maybe third.

There are SO many other great ones!  Seriously just go look at the massive list on iTunes (it’s free, y’all)!   Download an episode with someone you’re a fan of and prepare to be delighted.  Or you can come back and yell at me if you hated it.

Oh, also these are three male comedianerds and things can get a little out of hand sometimes.  This podcast is not for young ears or anyone who’s offended by the occasional swear or gross anatomical reference.  I don’t know if it quite deserves the EXPLICIT rating it has on iTunes…but…probably.
